Wetzstein wins Hejna Memorial, four more top Five Star Classic
The Pritchard Family Auto Stores Mason City Motor Speedway hosted the Five Star Classic presented by Kabrick Distributing on Saturday, Oct. 19, marking the second night of the Jerry Hejna Memorial presented by Rookies Rockin’ Sports Bar.
Featuring the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series, drivers across five classes battled it out, delivering thrilling competition at the lightning-fast 1/3-mile oval in Northeast Iowa.
In the Sanco Equipment USRA Modifieds feature, Ryan Wetzstein of West Concord, Minn., took the top spot, followed by J.T. Wasmund of Pine Island, Minn., in second. Al Hejna of Clear Lake finished third, while Steve Wetzstein, also from West Concord, Minn., claimed fourth. Tanner Williamson of Fort Frances, Ont., Canada, rounded out the top five.\

The Christie Door Company USRA Stock Cars saw Chanse Hollatz of Clear Lake take the victory in the "A" Feature. Brady Williamson of Rushford, Minn., secured second place, with Todd Staley of Webster City finishing third. Travis Shipman of Mason City grabbed fourth, and Daniel Eckblad of St. Peter, Minn., completed the top five.
In the Window World USRA B-Mods "A" Feature, Hunter Kennedy of St. Ansgar emerged victorious. Kaeden Bronner of Austin, Minn., finished second, followed by Harley Dais of Winona, Minn., in third. Dan Hovden of Decorah took fourth, and Dustin Kruse of Baltic, S.D., finished fifth.
The Wrightz Auction Co USRA Hobby Stocks "A" Feature was won by Luke Schluetter of New Hampton. Kolby Goepel of Britt took second place, while Bryce Sommerfeld of Fort Dodge finished third. Jeremy Wegner of Greattinger claimed fourth, and Scott Spilde of Cresco rounded out the top five.
Finally, in the Bryant Tree Services USRA Tuners feature, Devin Jones of Mason City claimed the win. Holden Mathis of Monona finished second, followed by Oliver Monson of Thornton in third. Brad Stahl of Castalia took fourth, and Ryan Bryant of Mason City finished fifth.
The event showcased fierce competition and strong performances across all classes at the Mason City Motor Speedway, capping off an exciting weekend of dirt track racing.
